Mayor Celso Lobregat on Friday was accorded military honors by the 530th Air Base Wing under BGen. Carlix Donila as a show of gratitude for the numerous infrastructure projects implemented for the benefit of airmen assigned with the Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB).

The military honors preceded the turn over of two projects—road concreting project covering 210 linear meters and a drainage system project covering 457 linear meters costing a total of P1.7 million. The two projects are located at Block 3, Airmen’s Village inside the EAAB in Sta. Maria.

The newly-inaugurated projects are only some of the infrastructures initiated by Mayor Lobregat inside the military base. Ongoing at present are several other concreting projects inside the EAAB. When he was congressman, Lobregat also funded numerous projects for the base in Sta. Maria.

The projects were undertaken by a private contractor under the supervision of the City Engineer’s Office.

BGen. Donila said the airmen are very thankful and appreciative for the initiatives being undertaken by the mayor inside the military base. He said the improvements inside the base will greatly benefit the airmen.

Present during the turn over of the projects were Councilors Rudy Lim and Nonong Guingona, Deputy Wing Commander Col. Mike Logronio, Chaplain Capt. Acacio, Sta. Maria Barangay chairman Litong Lacandalo, officers’ ladies and other 530th men and women.

Mayor Lobregat said the city government will continue to pursue projects even inside military camps and bases stressing that it is the duty and responsibility of the city to look after the welfare of Philippine Air Force members who are serving the city and its people. (Sheila Covarrubias)
