Celso, Agbulos lead free medical, feeding program

Mayor Celso Lobregat and City Health Officer Dr. Rodel Agbulos led yesterday morning the conduct of free medical and feeding program at the City Health Office, Pettit Barracks, this city.

Mayor Lobregat said the twin program is one of the activities for this year’s Zamboanga Hermosa Festival in celebration of Fiesta Pilar. “It demonstrates the city government’s commitment to public health,” he said.

For his part, Dr. Agbulos said the feeding program while conducted only at once emphasizes the value of nutritious food for the children. “We want to show that nutritious food is the best for the children,” he said.

Close to 120 children, mostly street urchins and those from orphanage centers in the city, were treated to “Aroz Caldo na Fiesta Pilar” while about 100 adults that included the youths availed of free medical and dental services.

Last September 25, the city through the CHO in coordination with the Councilors Abdurahman and Lilia Nuño also conducted free medical services to residents of Taluksangay and the neighboring areas including the islands.

Close to 500 people, mostly indigents, availed of the free medical and dental services. (Vic Larato)
