Mayor Celso Lobregat on Friday distributed cash assistance intended for the three victims of separate shooting incidents that happened in Mampang and Arena Blanco.

The financial aid was part of the city government’s assistance to individuals in crisis situations.

Mayor Lobregat personally handed out P10, 000 assistance each to Mary Aizle Estrada and Natividad Luciano of Mampang and Jainab Abdusamad of Arena Blanco at the City Health Office conference room Friday morning.

City Social Welfare Officer Francisco Barredo and City Health Officer Rodel Agbulos were present during the turn over of the assistance.

Estrada is the pregnant wife of Rosalino Jr. who was killed in a shooting incident sometime last July while Luciano and Abdusamad were wounded in two other separate incidents. The three were victims of a perceived feud among families in the two barangays a few months back.

The series of violent incidents in the area caused the city government to intervene and to call for an amicable settlement of the case. Last September, upon the instance of Mayor Lobregat and the police and military and the assistance of Councilors Abdurahman Nuño and Cesar Iturralde and the barangay chairmen of the two barangays, the feuding groups met in City Hall and committed to end any and all disputes for peace and tranquillity in their respective villages.

Barangay chairmen Jesus Dulaca of Mampang and Adim Atti of Arena Blanco with their barangay kagawads, tanods accompanied the Estrada family (Mampang) and Abdusamad family (of Arena Blanco) to City Hall to thresh out their differences before Mayor Lobregat at City Hall.

Both families during the meeting agreed that they will not put the law into their own hands and to let justice take its course.

The city government’s assistance to individuals in crisis situations is facilitated by the City Social Welfare Office and after and being distributed after the accomplishment of the necessary requirements. (Sheila Covarrubias)
