Mayor Celso Lobregat remains focused in his mandated tasks to deliver better service to barangay people, as he motored to Cabatangan on Monday to unveil yet another set of infrastructure projects amounting to P14.4 million.

The Cabatangan sortie came barely two days after Mayor Lobregat turned over some P8 million projects in the farflung barangay of Latuan in the east coast.

The projects turned over to the Cabatangan Barangay Council led by Edwina Jalon Francisco included the construction of drainage system at Lower Cabatangan (P496,175); construction of slope protection (P496,379); construction of fence at Cabatangan health center (P130,739); concreting of Gov. Ramos to Cabatangan (P4.17 million); improvement of farm to market road at Lumbang, Upper Cabatangan (P399,000); construction of 2-storey 6 classroom building (P6.6 million); construction of drainage system at Cabatangan (P983,000) and concreting of road (P991,241).

Lobregat said the 8 projects form part of the almost P17 million worth of projects that the city government has implemented, is implementing and is about to implement in barangay Cabatangan.

Joining the mayor in his Cabatangan turn over activity were Councilors Rudy Lim, Nonong Guingona, Charlie Mariano, Luis Biel III, Charlie Mariano and Gerky Valesco, City Engineer Luis Despalo, City Hall executive assistant Percival Ramos, City Schools Superintendent Dolores Alcantara and other officials.

The mayor said the different projects being undertaken in the different barangays, specifically far flung barangays is proof that the local government is concerned of the well being of the residents.

The projects initiated in the different barangays are multi-faceted as it benefit a number of sectors—farmers, students, commuters, transportation group and the entire barangay constituents.

Lobregat said his administration is not distracted by efforts from detractors and will continue to pursue the implementation of projects for the betterment of the residents of the city.

While administration detractors say that the present administration is implementing projects on a snail’s pace, Lobregat has been hopping from one barangay to the other the past months to inaugurate and turn over projects.

Last Saturday, June 27 the mayor was in Latuan, 57 kilometers east of the city to turn over 11 projects worth some P8 million to the barangay led by Rosita Macarandan while a week ago, he was in Culianan to unveil and to turn over 12 projects amounting to over P11 million to Culianan residents led by Anatacio Limen.

Infrastructure projects, which are included as a poverty-reduction measure, cover a huge chunk in the city’s annual budget. (Sheila Covarrubias)
