Mayor Celso Lobregat together with City Treasurer Soledad Li yesterday launched the city government’s business license plates pursuant to an ordinance enacted by the City Council.

Assisted by City Administrator Antonio Orendain Jr., Mayor Lobregat distributed the business license plates to some businessmen and businesswomen who were chosen at random for the ceremonial distribution at the City Hall Conference room yesterday morning.

Lobregat said the launching ceremony yesterday was pursuant to Ordinance 148, series 2008 which requires all business establishments in the city to register and secure a business permit registration plate prior to operation.

Councilor Nonong Guingona, the principal author of the ordinance and Councilor Rudy Lim were present during the launching program.

Under the new required scheme of business registration plate, establishments can be identified easily by the monitoring team authorized to enforce the business permit provision. The enforcement of the ordinance likewise is expected to eradicate the non-acquisition of business permit due to the visibility of the embossed business registration plate.

Lobregat said the business plates are for the current year (2009) and next year and the years thereafter the businesses will only get stickers to be pasted on the plates once the licenses are renewed.

The initial recipients of the business license plates were Danny N. Lim of Southway Square and Mega Shop-O-Rama, Thelma G. Saavedra of Cecile’s Pharmacy, Pedro Rufo Soliven of Bloomingdales Dept. Store and Café del Sol, Angel M. Natividad of Chowking Franchise, Mary Joy A. Tan of McDonalds Fracnhise, Anita A. Zabala of Flavorite Cuisine, Romeo C. Macatangay of McDonald Photo Center, Eduardo L. Cheong of Asiatic Trading Corp., Eduardo G. Chua of Golden Broadcast Professionals, Inc., Erlinda C. Quintos of Freemont Food Corp. Jollibee (Plaza Pershing), Evelina A. Balbon of the Philippine National Bank, Ma. Consuelo B. Duarte of MC Duarte Bookkeeping Services, Editha G. Perez of E.
