Celso reports over P73M projects in Curuan

Mayor Celso Lobregat yesterday rolled out to the people of Curuan the city government’s infrastructure program for the barangay costing P73 million implemented in a record span of 3 years.
Speaking before residents during a program commemorating the 19th Dia de Curuan, Lobregat said the city’s assistance and support to Curuan and the other 97 barangays will be pursued vigorously and relentlessly in line with the thrust to help alleviate the plight of the constituents.
The total P73.396 million worth of projects implemented and completed are spread out in 3 years and broken down as follows: 2007—13 projects worth P8.081 million ; 2008—9 projects worth P14.011 million and 2009—13 projects worth P18.342 million.
There are also 6 projects on going costing P23.762 million; one project worth P700,000 is submitted to the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) while 3 projects costing P8.5 million are up for bidding.
“Never in the history of any administration in the city of Zamboanga implemented in 3 years,” Lobregat declared to the applause of the Curuan residents.
Accompanying the mayor during the visit to the barangay were Councilors Cesar Iturralde, Nonong Guingona, Rudy Lim, Eddie Saavedra, Abdurahman Nuño, Roel Natividad and Kim Elago.
Very significant in the list of projects completed in 2007 are the construction of bridge at Campo Pilar worth P1.39 million; the construction of sports center worth P2.93 million and construction of improvement of farm to market road at Curuan-Latuan worth P1.81 million. For 2008, the concreting of the Curuan-Lunday road worth P7.7 million is the most significant in the list including the construction of bridge at Curuan Betong worth P2.1 million.
In 2009, considered as major projects were the construction of bridge at Candiis worth P2.04 million; improvement of farm to market road at Curuan-Lunday worth P6.94 million; construction of drainage system at Curuan-Lunday road worth P446,241.; improvement of farm to market road at Curuan-Lunday Camp Pilar road worth P195,552; construction of slope protection at Curuan-Lunday-Camp Pilar road worth P2.18 million and construction of irrigation structure worth P1.15 million.
The list of ongoing projects consists of the concreting of the Curuan-Lunday road covering 1,436 linear meters worth P7.99 million; concreting of Curuan-Lunday road covering 1,250 linear meters worth P4.39 million; construction of box culvert at Curuan-Lunday-Camp Pilar Road covering 6 linear meters worth P2.35 million and construction of drainage system at Curuan Lunday-Camp Pilar road covering 3,725 linear meters worth P1.98 million.
Meanwhile, the Curuan residents including young students and senior citizens who attended the program held at the Curuan gymnasium thanked Mayor Lobregat for the many projects being implemented in their village.
The projects, particularly the farm to market roads, truly impact the lives of the residents, according to Carmelito Manalo, Curuan barangay chairman.
