Celso unveils P5.9-M Maasin school project

Mayor Celso Lobregat on Monday afternoon led the inauguration of yet another school building project worth P5.9 million, this time at Maasin Learning Center in the west coast of the city.
Inaugurated was the two-storey eight-classroom building costing P5,986,777.78, which is now being occupied by Gradea 4, 5 and 6 pupils. It was undertaken by Rabbit Construction.
The school building was among the projects implemented and completed in 2008 at Maasin Learning Center but was unveiled only this time due to the many other projects that had been completed and inaugurated. Also completed last year was the construction of slope protection measuring 53.5 linear meters and amounted to P468,813.63.
This year, the city government has invested a total of P2,136,231.79 worth of various infrastructure projects in Barangay Maasin. These include concreting of 145-linear meter road- P495,412.80; improvement of 95-linear meter farm-to-market road- P395,989.44 and construction of 277.50-linear meter fence at Maasin Elementary School- P1,244,829.55. Undergoing construction is the 85.8-linear meter fence at the Maasin Learning Center.
In 2007, Barangay Maasin received a total of P1.5 million worth projects from the Lobregat administration. Among these projects were improvements of farm-to-market roads- P987,307.02 and P498,682.01; construction of covered walk at Maasin Elementary School- P83,715.75; rehabilitation of comfort rooms at Maasin Learning Center- P55,899.06; site development at Satellite School in Maasin- P249,566.20; construction of audience hall at Maasin Learning Center- P427,804.46; and site development at Maasin Learning Center- P198,757.39.
Assisting the mayor during the inauguration of the school building were Councilors Rudy Lim, Nonong Guingona and Luis Biel III, City Schools Division Superintendent Dolores Alcantara, Executive Assistant Percival Ramos, City Engineer Luis Despalo and the school principal Edsel Francisco.
