CHO reports diarrhea cases in Tictabon
City Health Officer Rodel Agbulos yesterday reported 7 cases of diarrhea, a water-borne disease in the island barangay of Tictabon.
A 6-year old child reported to have died due to the disease, according to Agbulos.
As this developed, Agbulos has directed the gathering of water samples in the area where the cases occurred for the immediate conduct of laboratory tests but in the meantime, the city health officer also sent water purifiers and oresol to sanitize the water supply in the area.
“We are also sending a team to the area to conduct medical mission and to assess the status of environmental sanitation”, Dr. Agbulos revealed.
He advised people in the area to undertake precautionary measures before taking water such as boiling or applying oresol.
He also stressed that cleanliness and sanitation is still the most important preventive measure for any form of disease.
The people afflicted with diarrhea were confined at the Zamboanga City Medical Center.
Meanwhile, Agbulos said the city government through the CHO is exerting all efforts to improve and accelerate health services.
Aside from the facilities offered in health centers, the CHO also conducts medical missions in the barangays to ensure that the poorest of the poor will have access to health services. (Sheila Covarrubias)
