Cluster 1 bags 1st prize in City gov’t inter-cluster choral tilt
Cluster 1, a choral group representing the offices located at the City Hall main, bagged the first prize in the city government inter-cluster choral competition held Friday night as one of the main highlights in the opening of Pascua na Zamboanga 2009.
It is the second year for cluster 1, composed of employees representing the offices of the City Mayor, City Administrator, City Legal, City Treasurer and City Budget, to win the top prize. The group went home with P7,000 cash.
Placing second was cluster 1 (City Hall annex) with a cash prize of P5,000. The cluster is composed of employees representing the offices of the City Human Resource Management, City Planning and Development, City Engineer, City Assessor and City Accountant.
Cluster 3, representing the city government offices located in Pettit Barracks, ended third with P3,000 cash prize. It is composed of employees from the offices of City Health, City Social Welfare and Development, City Veterinarian and City Civil Registrar.
Mayor Celso Lobregat awarded the cash prizes during a program at the Plaza Pershing. The program was preceded by a lantern parade kicking off the Pascua na Zamboanga 2009, the most celebrated festival during the year.
The other participating clusters in the inter-cluster choral contest were cluster 4 representing the offices of the City Secretary, Sangguniang Panlungsod, City General Services, Ayala and Vitali Technical Vocational Schools and Local School Board teachers and cluster 5 representing the offices of City Agriculturist and City Environment and Natural Resources.
Another highlight during the program was the ceremonial switch on of the lights in City Hall and the giant Christmas trees in Plaza Pershing and Paseo del Mar.
The Pascua na Zamboanga opening was also attended by members of the City Council that included Councilors Cesar Iturralde, Nonong Guingona, Rey Candido, Rudy Lim, Jimmy Cabato, Lynet Abarro, Lilia Nuno, Luis Biel III, Gerky Valesco, Charlie Mariano and Eddie Rodriguez; some LDP-AZaP members former City Hall Chief executive Assistant Ller Natividad, executive assistant Percival Ramos, Mike Alavar, Myra Abubakar, Elbert Atilano, Josephine Pareja and Kaizer Olaso,; city department heads, some barangay officials and representatives of some sectors.
