Hechos culminates Dec. 18
Hechos de Zamboanga, a trade fair showcasing all products made in Zamboanga City, being held at the Plaza Pershing, will culminate Friday, December 18.
Organized by the City Agriculturist Office, the first ever Hechos de Zamboanga forms part of the 2009 Pascua de Zamboanga festival this December.
Hechos opened December 8 with a total of 14 stalls manned by different Rural Improvement Clubs (RICs) and 4-H clubs including individual farmers.
The stalls display all Zamboanga-made products such as pastries, pickles, novelty items and lanterns made by prisoners from the San Ramon Penal Farm and the City Reformatory Center, fabrics, potteries, bonsai plants, preserved foods and other items.
Delia Navales, Chief of the Agribusiness Division under the City Agriculturist Office said the products being sold and displayed at the Hechos de Zamboanga are results of the trainings initiated by the Gender and Development (GAD) program of the city government.
“These products are based on what our RICs and youths learned out of the GAD trainings that they underwent before,” Ms. Navales said.
Hechos de Zamboanga has yielded positive results in terms of sales people turn out at the Plaza Pershing since it was launched December 8.
Navales said the trade fair will end tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 18, instead of December 24.
