Lobregat equips Tourist Police in Paseo
The city government yesterday equipped the 22-man City Tourist Police based at the Paseo del Mar with essential facilities intended to make them more efficient and effective in maintaining public order.
Mayor Celso Lobregat together with members of the City Council and other city officials personally turned over the items to City Police OIC Director Col. Amador Corpus during simple rites held at the Tourist Police Office at the Paseo del Mar.
The items included metal detectors, computers, filing cabinets, folding beds and tables that would help promote efficiency and competence in public service.
Computer units were also turned over to the Investigation Section of the City Police under P/Insp. Joel Tuttoh and the Ayala Police Station under Police S/Insp. Hado Edding during the same rite.
Mayor Lobregat said the police assigned at the Paseo del Mar require the necessary support to make them efficient in carrying out their responsibilities and duties entrusted to them.
The Paseo del Mar is one of the newest attractions of the city. It is filled with people—coming from all walks of life, both residents of the city or out of towners day in and day out.
The Tourist Police team is composed of 22 policemen and police women and is tasked to maintain security or law and order at the park and its periphery.
Present during the turn over of the items yesterday morning were Councilors Rudy Lim, Nonong Guingona and Gerky Valesco, City Hall executive assistant Ller Natividad and other police and city officials.
The police meanwhile, thanked the city government for continuously supporting the law enforcement agency.
Col. Corpus said the items turned over for the police yesterday would surely help improve service to the public. (Sheila Covarrubias)
