Lobregat inaugurates P6M Manicahan school projects

Mayor Celso Lobregat together with other city and education officials unveiled yesterday afternoon two vital infrastructure projects worth almost P6 million in Barangay Manicahan, east of this city.

Inaugurated were the newly constructed two-storey six-classroom building worth P5.5 million at Manicahan Poblacion Elementary School and the 112-linear meter fence amounting to P497,161.67 at Manicahan Poso Elementary School, which has never had a fence since its founding 40 years ago (1969). Both projects were undertaken by Khadeem and 2M construction firms.

These projects bring to almost P20 million the total amount of infrastructure projects the city government under Lobregat’s administration has given to Manicahan over the last three years, including P1.7 million still up for bidding.

Other projects completed this year in Manicahan included farm-to-market road at Manicahan-Poso-Lapakan- P492,569.63; road concreting- P494,347.62; irrigation structure- P1.2 million; irrigation canal- P374,114.01; and construction of a stage at Manicahan Elementary School. Undergoing construction are irrigation structure at Sabanita- P997,353.67; another irrigation structure amounting to P994,270.00 and improvement of Manicahan National High School fence- P399,721.74.

Joining the inauguration rites were Councilors Rudy Lim, Rey Candido and Charlie Mariano together with Executive Assistant on Barangay Affairs Mario Roca, Executive Assistant Percival Ramos, Manicahan barangay officials headed by Chairperson Editha Casiño, teachers, parents and pupils of the two elementary schools. Other guests were Cabaluay chairman Romeo Enriquez, the contractors and officials from the Department of Education (DepEd-9), City Schools Division.

In 2007, the city government poured more than P4 million worth of projects in Manicahan, ranging from road concreting, bridges/foot bridges, slope protection to rehabilitation of health center and seaweed dryer. In addition, P2.8 million more projects were given to Manicahan in 2008. (Vic Larato)
