Fulfilling his commitment to continuously pursue the implementation of infrastructure projects for the benefit of the barangay folks, Mayor Celso Lobregat over the weekend motored to Quiniput and Vitali in the east coast to unveil four projects, this time in line with the city’s health services.

The project package consisted of the newly constructed health center in Vitali costing P1.3 million and the archives building worth P990,000, fence with gates worth P785,000 and embankment or slope project worth P828,000—all for the Cristino M. Paragas Memorial Hospital in Quiniput.

Lobregat said the four projects form part of his administration’s enhanced health services to the people and are in line with the vision of “nuestro deseo un ciudad sin enfermedad”.

Accompanying the mayor during the turn over of the projects were Councilors Lilia Nuno, Nonong Guingona, Rudy Lim, Cesar Iturralde, Rey Candido, Charlie Mariano and Rey Candido; City Health Officer Rodel Agbulos and his staff and barangay officials from Vitali and Quiniput.

Zamboanga Archbishop Romulo Valles presided over the blessing rite for all the projects.

Lobregat committed to continue the implementation of other infrastructure projects in other barangays to ensure the effective delivery of basic services to the people in far flung barangays.

Last Friday, September 11, the mayor also unveiled another school building project, the fifth since 2004, for the Maria Clara Lobregat National High School in Divisoria.

The massive implementation of infrastructure projects and accelerated social services are results of sound fiscal management of the present administration.

When he assumed office in 2004, Lobregat initiated measures to balance the expenditure and collection processes of the city that enabled the massive implementation of infrastructure projects and the enhancement in the delivery of social services.

Meanwhile, Dr. Fernando T. Gestoso, head of the Cristino M. Paragas Memorial Hosptial, thanked Lobregat for the projects implemented for the improvement of the hospital saying it will ensure the comfort and convenience of the clients. (Sheila Covarrubias)
