Mayor Celso Lobregat on Monday distributed the city government’s cash assistance to 10 families rendered homeless by a fire that broke out last June 23 at Don Alfaro St, Barangay Tetuan, this city.

Lobregat doled out P5,000 each to two house owners whose properties were totally destroyed by the fire, P3,000 to one house owner whose property was partially damaged, P3,000 each to two house sharers and P1,500 each to five boarders, for a total of P26,500.

The cash distribution was held at the conference room of City Hall under the auspices of the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Witnessing the distribution of the cash assistance were City Social Welfare Office staff led by Leonida Bayan and representatives from the City Treasurer’s Office.

Last June 18, Lobregat and the CSWDO also distributed similar cash assistance to families rendered homeless by separate fire incidents and strong winds in different parts of the city—3 families in Curuan, one in Cawit and six sharers.

On June 25, this year, the chief executive also extended cash assistance to eight families dislocated by the conflagration that hit Sunrise Drive, Saavedra Extension, Sta. Maria last May 30.

Personnel from the City Social Welfare Office conduct the verification and assessment and recommend the grant of financial assistance to victims of calamities in the city. (Vic Larato)
