PAF alerts brgy folks on military drill

The 3rd Air Division of the Philippine Air Force has alerted the residents and barangay officials of Pasonanca and Tumaga, this city not to panic should they hear a volley of gun fires in their vicinity today, Dec. 4 until tomorrow, Dec. 5, as such is part of a military exercise.

In a letter to Mayor Celso Lobregat, 3RD Air Division Chief Major Gen. Mario Butch Lacson informed the chief executive about the field training exercises that will involve the firing of M-16 rifles with blank bullets.

The military officer said the field training exercise is part of the Professional Military Education curriculum currently being undertaken by the Air Education Command through the Mobile Air Force Basic and Advance Program of the Non-Commissioned Officer School.

At least 60 active military personnel from the subordinate units of the 3rd Air Division in Mindanao are participants of the said drill which started last Nov. 28. The firing drill will be conducted today, Dec. 4, and tomorrow, Dec. 5.

Mayor Lobregat likewise alerts the public so as not to unduly cause panic or alarm the residents in the area. (Vic Larato)
