The Philippine Deposit Insurance Company (PDIC) is now receiving deposit insurance claims from depositors of the closed Philippine Farmers’ Bank Inc. – Zamboanga City Branch.

In a letter addressed to Mayor Celso Lobregat, the PDIC has sought the chief executive’s assistance in informing depositors.

The PDIC announced that representatives from the insurance company will service claims from September 30 to October 9, 2009.

Depositors are advised to proceed to the closed bank’s premises and submit to PDIC representatives duly accomplished claim form, original evidence of deposits, such as savings passbook or certificates of time deposit and two valid identification documents bearing depositor’s signature.

Valid IDs include SSS/GSIS ID, PRC license, driver’s license, Senior Citizen’s ID, passport, company ID, school ID, TIN ID, Philhealth ID and Voter’s ID/Affidavit.

Pursuant to the provisions of RA 9576, depositors are given two years from bank closure to file their claims or until September 19, 2011 only. After the deadline, PDIC will no longer accept any claim for insured deposits with the said bank. (Claudine Uniana/City Hall PIO)
