Percy leads taekwondo delegation to USA
Percival Ramos, a City Hall executive assistant leads the Zamboanga Taekwondo team that is participating in the 2010 U.S. Open Taekwondo Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada USA from February 10-14.
Ramos, represents Mayor Celso Lobregat, who has been personally invited by the USA Taekwondo and US Olympic Committee to head the Zamboanga delegation to the international competition.
The Zamboanga delegation is composed of players Marlon Avenido, Nolene de los Reyes, Aries Jones Alviar, Alvin Macrohon, Sarah Gail Arcillas, Ma. Rachelle Cuenca, Jenefer Tayag and Daphne Ramillano and head coach Dennis Aquino.
A sports enthusiast himself, Mayor Lobregat strongly supports Taekwondo and other sports events through sports participation and training.
The Zamboanga Taekwondo team has won numerous medals in both national and international competitions prior to the Nevada championships.
The competition will be held at the Tropicana Hotel Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada.
USA Taekwondo is a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), the organization overseeing 45 sports governing bodies in the United States involved with Olympic, Paralympics, and Pan American sporting competitions.
Prior to their departure to Manila the other day, Mayor Lobregat extended best wishes to the taekwondo players and encouraged them to do their best for Zamboanga and the Philippines. (Sheila Covarrubias)
