Zambo airsoft team bags Mindanao championship

A group of Zamboangueños composing the Airsoft Tactical Unit (ATU) bagged the championship trophy of the first ever Airsoft Mindanao Finals tournament held last month in Cagayan de Oro City.
Dr. Walid Amil, president of ATU, said the tournament dubbed “Operation: El-Trono” was participated in by 18 teams, six of them emerged winners with his team (ATU) on the No. 1 slot.
The other participating teams were: AGTA- Ozamis City, MALCOM- Bukidnon, ISAP- Iligan City, Magahat- Valencia Bukidnon, SEALs- Davao City, KAST- Kabacan, DAWG- Lanao, PAGI- Pagadian, Tagcore- Cotabato, NEG Wolverine- Cagayan de Oro, AXG- Ipil, Wildkat- Kidapawan, Delta SS- Davao, COTTA (formerly Mafia II), BARRACUDA, Bituon (formerly STAR) and EXCOM, also from Zamboanga City.
The tournament involved “bomb retrieval” and “get intelligence” as the primary and secondary missions. The latter was aimed at testing the players’ intelligence under pressure within the game.
Dr. Amil said they are now preparing for the forthcoming National Airsoft Championship to be held in Cebu City on Nov. 28-19.
The group paid a courtesy call on Mayor Celso Lobregat in City Hall yesterday afternoon.
Other ATU officers are: Shabree Amil, vice president; James Porto, secretary; Razeen Amil, treasurer; Adil Habing, auditor; Al-Shamir Ali and Adshar Balahim, public relations officers. The advisers are Ayub Ali, Abraham Magasa, Rushdi Mukarram and Hj. Wahab Amil. (Vic Larato)
