As part of their continuing support to the present administration, the officers and directors of the Zamboanga Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Incorporated turned over rice and goodies to Mayor Celso Lobregat for the conduct of love drives for indigent sector.

Costing more or less P100,000, the goodies composed of 80 sacks of rice (25 kilos each), 20 cases of water, several boxes of noodles, bihon and sardines.

Led by President Richard Chan, the ZFCCCI turned over the goodies during a breakfast meeting with Mayor Lobregat.

Mr. Eddie Cheong, ZFCCCI director said the group turned over the love kits to Mayor Lobregat and gave the chief executive the discretion on the manner of distributing the goodies.

He stressed that the initiative is part of the Chamber’s continuing support to the Lobregat administration, which has been exerting all efforts for the benefit and welfare of the constituents.

Councilor Cesar Iturralde, Lobregat’s vice mayoralty candidate for the 2010 elections, assisted the mayor in receiving the goodies.

Among those present during the turn over yesterday morning were former president Wee Sion Ben, Eddie Cheong, Eddie Chua and other equally important officers and directors of the ZFCCCI.

Since the start of the Lobregat administration, the ZFCCCI has been an ally and partner of the city government in the implementation of programs and projects. The group is always ready to respond to the city’s call for support to various initiatives especially during emergency response and disaster management undertakings.

Time and again, Mayor Lobregat has thanked the business sector for its continuing support to the programs of the city government to bring progress and development to the city.

“You have shown time and again your willingness to perform your civic duty if and when the city and her people need your assistance. In terms of number, the Filipino-Chinese community may be considered as a minority but your contributions to the city are nothing minor. The city cannot thank you enough; I cannot thank you enough!” Lobregat, represented by City Administrator Antonio Orendain, said during the recent induction of officers of the ZFCCCI.
