Driving License
Vehicles in the Philippines drive on the right side of the road or left hand steering. Distances and speed limits are in kilometers and kilometers per hour. One mile is equivalent to about 1.6 km.
Foreign driver’s licenses are valid up to 90 days from arrival in the Philippines. After these 90 days, a foreigner should have a Philippine driver’s license. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) issues driver’s licenses. Offices can be found throughout the country.
How to get one? If you have a foreign license: 1) Original foreign license plus a photocopy. 2) If the information on the license is not written in English, a translation must be provided by the Embassy of the country where the license was issued.
If foreign license is expired at the time of filing and you need a professional license: 1) Take written-examination and road test. 2) Complete application form. You will be issued a receipt that will serve as temporary license for 60 days until the issuance of your permanent license. Licenses are valid for 3 years. For current fees or more information, check the LTO website - https://www.lto.gov.ph
